    Extended numerical controller series

The recently launched Osai 10-Series family of numerical controllers has been further extended to include an integrated PC, Ethernet communications, Interbus and a new 'General Purpose' control unit for industrial automation applications.

It will shortly be available with new advanced algorithms, making it the most advanced CNC control on the market today for high speed machining applications.

The 10-Series numerical control system provides state-of-the-art control with unbeatable flexibility, making the range equally applicable for metalworking, woodworking, glass-working and marble-cutting as well as specialised high-speed composite and metal cutting machines.

The standard controller covers applications from 3-axis mono-process up to the simultaneous management of 24 processes and 32 axes - all in a single CNC. The management of such a high number of processes by a single CNC significantly simplifies many of the problems associated with multiple control integration in complex applications incorporating several machining heads.

Based on standard PC architecture, with Windows compatibility, the 10-Series is designed to provide easy commissioning and programming. A powerful DLL library allows the development of personalised graphics and shop management data-systems for tailor-made ease of set-up and user-friendly operation.

Specifying the Osai 10-Series means that users are not locked into narrow methods of machine control, giving greater machine versatility and more machine utilisation throughout its life.

State-of-the-art computer technology, combined with sophisticated control algorithms, ensures superb results, particularly where a high quality of finish is required. This is achieved by a block execution time in the order of 1msec and an axis sampling time of just 200 microseconds.

The dynamic RAM memory, which can be extended up to 32 Mbyte can store all of the data and programs necessary for the control of 24 simultaneous processes. In excess of 400 Mbytes of part-programming storage is available with full DNC capability via RS232 or Ethernet, with an operator interface that offers Windows 3.11, WIN 95 or WIN NT.

    10/Series

The 10-Series family starts with the 10/510 CNC, which is available in 3,4 and 6-axis versions, and which can handle three independent processes.

There is also the 10-GP General Purpose motion controller, based on the same hardware, and which addresses a wide range of automation and special-purpose machine applications such as assembly automation, materials handling, wire and pipe-bending and cutting, special glass, metal and wood-working machines, robotics and measuring machines.

Utilising a unique programming language, STORM, the 10-GP makes programming easy, creating a user-specific operator interface to replace the more complex conventional CNC screens. A wide range of options, include extended memory and I/O, integrated operator console, a version for multi-control distributed architecture and integrated PC workstation and a multitude of other variations provide tailor-made solutions.

The standard INTERBUS interface has now been embedded into the 10-Series CNC, together with modular I/O devices, making it possible to use readily available industry-standard devices to assist with both installation and commissioning. Because building block modules are easily assembled into a single functional unit by simply plugging them onto a DIN rail, this reduces the cost of wiring, power supply, fuses etc.

The simplicity of the set-up makes it easy to add single modules by inserting digital or analogue input and output points, calibrated to the need of the specific application. Thus, future system expansion and parts replacement is made very simple and inexpensive.

OSAI-UK provides OEM solutions using the latest 10-Series CNC as well as providing retrofits and full support for both the 10 Series and 8600 controllers that were formally supported by Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation.
