OSwire
OSwire is the new OSAI digital protocol that achieves a data transfer rate of 90MBaud. The protocol allows up to 64 OSwire devices to be connected. These devices can be servo drives, digital I/O, analogue I/O, Temperature or encoder modules. As OSwire is fully incorporated into the CNC control both device configuration, setup and debug are all handled by the standard HMI interface with n o requirement for additional software packages.
Each drive or I/O module is mapped as simple memory locations. This allows reading and writing of all the specific variables of the peripherals from within the CNC control. The real time reading of items such as electrical power and following error can be used to help auto-tune the machine without using any external sensor.
Synchronisation between the master (the CNC) and each of the devices is handled at a hardware level. The very fast update achieved by this means that more axes can be interpolated with a greater accuracy and precision without influencing the data speed rate even if the number of devices increases.
OSwire allows all devices whether drives or other PLC devices to be connected to the same high speed bus. In most cases there is no requirement for any additional feedback (although when required due to mechanical drive chain characteristics an external feedback can be interface directly to the drive module).
